Why all this? Well, you’ve gotta write a big check with quite a few zeros at the end of it to commission art from me—and call me crazy, but I firmly believe that in a perfect world, people *should* get to own art AND do things like “pay rent”, “eat food-like substances on occasion”, and maybe even “continue to live”. Two of you can do that, the rest of you… you’re screwed. Sincerely, <3 Sam

What is your passion?  I love music, but I’m not really musically inclined.  I love cooking and baking, especially for others, but that stays in my home.  Writing is something I’ve done for nearly all my life, but somehow, that’s just not a priority anymore.

I love photography.  It has become a passion in me that, until recently, I never knew existed.  I am always very pleased with the images I capture, which is really all that matters; however, I am ecstatic that my friends and family enjoy them, too.I know I often look odd, whipping out my camera and taking shots wherever I go, but I’ve gotten used to it.  Sometimes, something I see just screams “pic me!” (Yes, the pun was intended.I don’t know that I would consider my work true art - art, for me, at least, conveys a meaning beyond the art itself.  I consider my images mostly showcasing beauty and wonder, not art.  I’m not trying to make a statement, or speak in symbolism; truly, I hope the images speak for themselves.  Could that be art?  I suspect that may be true; however, I still don’t consider myself a true artist.  There’s so much more to learn!  To see!

My photos make me happy.  They make my children happy.  In the depths of the winter, we can look back at the flowers and insects we’ve seen in the spring and summer, and remember our joy.  I can gaze upon the smiles of my children, no matter their age.  We share images of their infant-hood, their first steps; things they may not remember, but, hopefully, still treasure.
